Project Overview: The HDLALTGC project asks students to think about and explore what makes a global citizen and how they often begin as local leaders taking local action, later resulting in them addressing these issues on a global level. The goal is to expose students to a variety of global citizens, help them understand what actions and ideas make a global citizen, as well as understanding the outcomes of their efforts. The second part of this project asks students to explore how they themselves could take local action on our campus. The goal is for students to make a positive local impact as well as inspiring them to become future global citizens. Students pick a global citizen of their choice to explore, as well as picking a way to positively impact our school campus. As always, students collaborate to develop and work with guiding questions as they not only research their global citizen, but also learn and understand how to effectively make a positive impact on our campus. Students collaborate throughout this project while researching and synthesizing information, developing and performing their presentations, and while actually making the positive change on campus become a reality. Students presented their ideas on stage in front of an audience in the Multi Purpose Room before having the audience take a tour around campus to hear presentations about and see the campus improvements made by students.
